The Trumpet

When you speak people will listen. That’s what I’ve always been told, but what are we saying? Are we letting corrupting talk come out of our mouth? Or are we speaking of wholesome good things? Are we laughing at dirty jokes or walking away? Are we speaking of good value and nothing negative?

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. – Ephesians 4:29

I’ve said all that to say this. Blow your trumpet! Do what? Proclaim the name of the Lord!

As Revelation 3:6 says “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

This is a word for today as it was 2000 years ago, we can’t let the time pass by us without proclaiming His name. We have to work while it is day because night comes when no man can work.

ISAIAH 62:6

“I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem

They shall never hold their peace day or night.

You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent.”

The watchmen’s command as they were given a position on the city walls was to blow the trumpet if they seen any danger coming towards them. They had no time to assemble an army or build more walls. Then it was the people’s decision on how to react to the sound of the trumpet. Our job as Christians is not to make them come to Christ but to invite them. It’s their call but are you blowing your trumpet?
