In Him: We are Anointed

Isaiah 61:1

[1] The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me
	to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; (ESV)

This verse was a foreshadowing of why Jesus came. He came to the poor and not to the rich. He came to proclaim truth and free those who are bonded.

At times when I don’t think I’m capable of doing something I’m reminded of this verse. At times when I need more boldness I read this verse.

We need to believe that we are anointed — in your job, as a parent, in your ministry and anything you put your hand to. God has anointed you! Holy Spirit is upon you! Rise up and proclaim truth to those who are hurting, and who are in bondage.

Notice the “tense” of the anointing in verse 1- it’s not ‘is anointing’ you, it’s not ‘might’ anoint you. it’s past tense – he has anointed you, meaning I am currently anointed. there is a reason for your anointing. we are anointed for a purpose, not for selfish ambition but to help those who are in prison, who are sick, who need a touch from God!

Choosing freedom instead of religion

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”

-Galatians 5:1

The Galatians began to forget the freedom they received when they accepted Christ. Paul is writing to them to challenge them to walk in freedom once again.

In the letters to the Galatians, Paul has to remind the people that circumcision is no longer needed. Jesus had introduced the new concept of Salvation by grace through faith alone. Paul was reminding them that there is no other replacement that would take place of salvation, other than faith in Jesus.

Prior to the arrival of Jesus, every Jewish man had to be circumcised as a symbol of the covenant between God and the people of Israel.

Much like today, some try to achieve good works and kind gestures of earning favor and approval and salvation from God but don’t be deceived. “It was for freedom Christ has set us free”. There is nothing more that we can do to earn more of God’s love or do less to not earn His love. His love was this, He sent His only Son to die a horrible death, “he was led like a lamb to the slaughter…” to bear our sins, past present and future, but He rose on the third day, declaring victory over death, Hell and the grave so that you and I could have eternal life. For this we must choose Him, everyday.

————–Question to ask ourselves

Are there any kind of religious ritual, rule or practice that you engage in as a means of earning approval or favor from God?

————–Reflect

Just as Paul was reminding the Galatians, that it is through a relationship that we have this freedom. Have you invited Jesus into your life?

Romans 10:9 “ If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

3 Keys to Living the Right Life

KEY #1

Do you ever wonder if you’re living the right life? In Proverbs it talks about a way that seems right to a man but in the end it will lead to destruction. That’s the price we pay if we go our own way. But Jesus says in John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am lthe way, and mthe truth, and nthe life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Key # 1 – The Right Atmosphere

3 keys to living the right life

Psalm 34:1-4 “

We can live a life and live it wrong or live it right.

Psalm 34:1-4

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2 My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;

The humble shall hear of it and be glad.

3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me,

And let us exalt His name together.

4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me,

And delivered me from all my fears.

When we begin to magnify God and praise God that is the key to deliverance. The enemy chooses fear because it is so gripping.

In our life we create the atmosphere.

Emotions create atmospheres

If someone is sad angry, upset without a word being said from their spirit you feel whatever they are feeling.

But when we MAGNIFY

When you praise the Lord you confuse the strategy of hell.

When you praise the Lord you take control of the territory you are in.

From worry to worship.

From panic to praise.

How?

Praise is a divine invitation

That’s How we get Gods favor and blessings and God responds to the atmosphere of praise, thanksgiving, of gratitude!

So whatever situation you may be in, press in to Him! Give Him praise and see how things can change!

Debt Free?

Christ had no transgressions of his own; he took ours upon his head; he never committed a wrong, but he took all my sin, and all yours, if ye are believers; concerning all his people, it is true; he bore; their griefs and carried their sorrows in his own body on the tree. Sin may drag thee ever so low, but Christ’s great, atonement is still under, all; You may have descended into the deeps, but you cannot have fallen so low as “the uttermost;” and to the uttermost he saves. – Charles Spurgeon

No place where God cannot reach a lost soul, even in the deepest of sin, there is still one hope and that is Jesus Christ. We all have had a huge debt before the cross, but when we gave into Him and no more of what this World has to offer, our bill was paid in FULL.

When Yahaya Wahab’s father passed away in January 2006, Yahaya had his father’s phone disconnected and paid the final bill of $23 to Telekom Malaysia. He was then surprised to receive another bill from the phone company in April. He was utterly shocked, however, after looking at what was inside.

It was a bill for $ 218 trillion dollars, along with a threatening letter informing Yahaya that he must pay the bill within ten days of face prosecution. It wasn’t initially clear whether the monstrous charge was a mistake or if Yahaya’s father’s phone line had been illegally used after his death. What was immediately clear, however, was that the bill represented a debt that Yahaya would never be able to pay. – Associated Press, “Man Gets $218 Trillion Phone Bill,” Chicago Tribune (April 10, 2006)

This story may sound unrealistic, but one thing that is realistic is that our debt has been paid! Only through Jesus Christ, who paid the ransom for us, we are able to live in Freedom! A bill that could have never been paid if not for the love of God, sending His only Son, so that we may have life, and life abundantly.

“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12

Is your bill overdue?
