Grace Makes Room for the New PART 2 of All Things New Series

All Things New Series Part 2

GRACE MAKES ROOM FOR THE NEW

Jesus says in Mark 2:21-22…

21 No one sews a piece of un-shrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. 22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins—and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins.”

What is was He saying? “Christ was bringing something new to the table and it wasn’t going to fit into their old religious system of self-righteousness. The beauty of grace is that it doesn’t patch us up. Grace doesn’t patch our guilt our shame, it doesn’t patch up our mistakes our failures. Grace renews us, it transforms us, grace replaces!

The old is dingy, the new is fresh and bright. The old is done changing. The new moves and stretches. When you put a new shirt in the dryer, the heat causes it to shift in size. Jesus says “this new covenant of grace I bring…it moves. And you can’t expect to wear your old nasty dirty garments and expect to use the grace of God as a patch over your broken places. “Jesus ‘ grace is fresh for today. It won’t match up with that old garment. And when the heat comes on, you’ll find out grace is active. It’ll only continue to expose the rips and tears. In fact, Grace will make them bigger. Grace is destructive. Grace isn’t in the remodeling or refurbishing. It’s in the replacement business.

WE CAN’T BRING THE OLD INTO THE NEW

WE CAN’T BRING OUR OLD WAYS INTO THE NEW

WE CAN’T PUT SOMETHING OLD INTO SOMETHING NEW

WE CAN’T BRING THE PAST INTO THE NEW

GOD IS SAYING MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEW!

2 Timothy 2:21

21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.

Never will you empty out that God won’t pour in!

I’M FIRMLY CONVINCED THAT GOD LIKES DOING NEW THINGS

BUT ITS PART OF HIS NATURE, HIS BEHAVIOR, HIS CHARACTER.

HE’S NOT DONE MAKING HIS BRIDE NEW

HE’S NOT DONE MAKING THIS COUNTRY NEW

HE’S NOT DONE MAKING THIS WORLD NEW

IN THE BOOK OF GENESIS, THE FIRST FEW VERSES WE CAN SEE THAT GOD IS SUPREME IN HIS PERSON — AS A TRIUNE GOD

HIS POWER – IN ACTIVITY AND WORD

AND HIS PURPOSE – AS CREATOR, DESIGNER, REBUILDER, RESTORER. HE CREATED OUR WORLD AND US WITH A PURPOSE.

IN THE FIRST CHAPTER OF GENESIS WE READ THAT GOD CREATED/V1  THE SPIRIT OF GOD HOVERED/V2  GOD SPOKE/V3 GOD SAW/V4 GOD NAMED/V5

THIS YEAR LETS ENGAGE WITH THESE 5 ACTIONS OF GOD

  1. WHAT DO YOU NEED GOD TO CREATE IN YOU?
  2. AS THE SPIRIT HOVERED OVER THE DARK AND EMPTY WATERS, WAITING TO CREATE — WHAT ARE THE DARK AND EMPTY PLACES OF YOUR OWN LIFE AND WHERE DO YOU NEED THE SPIRIT OF GOD TO HOVER AND MOVE?
  3. WHAT WORDS DO YOU NEED TO HEAR HIM SPEAK OVER YOU OR WHAT TRUTH DO YOU NEED TO SPEAK INTO YOUR OWN SITUATION?
  4. DO YOU NEED TO KNOW THAT GOD SEES YOU? WHAT IN YOUR LIFE DO YOU NEED TO NAME, ACKNOWLEDGE OR CALL OUT?
  5. HE SEES YOU, HE LOVES YOU, HE CREATED YOU – ON PURPOSE AND FOR A PURPOSE.

Do You Have Room For Me?

<p class="has-drop-cap" value="<amp-fit-text layout="fixed-height" min-font-size="6" max-font-size="72" height="80">Say you're taking a trip last minute out of no where. Not a good idea, for some, it's a great idea. If you remember the important parts of the trip that is, the motel room. But hey, we all make mistakes like that, right? You've planned for everything else but the room, the most important part of the trip! You've realized that every motel and hotel you go to has a "no vacancy" sign on the outside. Have I made this mistake? Why of course not. Say you’re taking a trip last minute out of no where. Not a good idea, for some, it’s a great idea. If you remember the important parts of the trip that is, the motel room. But hey, we all make mistakes like that, right? You’ve planned for everything else but the room, the most important part of the trip! You’ve realized that every motel and hotel you go to has a “no vacancy” sign on the outside. Have I made this mistake? Why of course not.

You’re begging to the attendant at the service counter, “Please make room for me!” But every attempt goes unheard of. You go from hotel to hotel and motel to motel, still no room can be found.

She brought forth her firstborn Son…and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Luke 2:7 NKJV

In the gospel of Luke we read that Mary and Joseph having this same ordeal. Their trip was planned though, much anticipated and I’m sure Mary was anxious to get the child labor out of the way. But why couldn’t they find a room? Really? The King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Messiah, The Chosen One, Son of God, the Creator, they were told to go away. Jesus, Mary and Joseph got rejected at every Inn (motel) they came across. They came to one Inn and all they had was a stable, a stable for animals. Not the best amenities but it worked.

  • Do we make the same mistake of the innkeeper? Do we tell Jesus that you have no time for Him today, ignore the prompting of the Spirit because its not convenient?
  • This Christmas, give to God your life, your time, and especially your heart. Listen for that urgent knock, and every time you hear it, move aside and make room for Him.

Hope Has a Name Part 2

THE INVITATION OF HOPE

THE CHRISTMAS STORY IS A BEAUTIFUL INVITATION. IT’S AN INVITATION FOR ALL TO COME AND SEE THE HOPE THAT HE HAS FOR ALL THOSE WHO COME TO HIM. IT’S AN INVITATION FOR ALL WHO ARE HURTING, WHO ARE HOPELESS, WHO HAS FEAR, WHO HAS SICKNESS AND WHO DOESN’T HAVE A SAVIOR.

THE NIGHT JESUS WAS BORN, THE HEAVENLY HOSTS WENT TO THE OUTSKIRTS OF TOWN TO LET A GROUP OF SHEPHERDS KNOW “A SAVIOR HAS BEEN BORN.” THE ANGELS MARVELED THAT CHRIST HAD COME TO RESCUE AND REDEEM, AND THEY LIT UP THE SKIES WITH THE THUNDEROUS PRAISE OF GOD. THAT NIGHT AN INVITATION WENT OUT: GO INTO BETHLEHEM TO SEE THE ONE WHO WILL BRING PEACE TO THE WHOLE EARTH.

LUKE 2:8-20

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

14

“Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

15 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over too Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. 17 And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.

THE INVITATION FOR US TODAY IS TO COME ADORE THE ONE WHO BROUGHT OUR HEALING, OUR WHOLENESS, AND OUR PEACE WITH GOD.

COME, ENCOUNTER THE COMPASSION, COMFORT AND KINDNESS OF OUR SAVIOR.

COME, APPROACH WITH HEARTACHE AND BROKENESS WITH OUR WOUNDS AND OUR SCARS.

Hope has a name

Peace has a name

Joy has a name

His name is Jesus, Immanuel, God with us.

<p value="<amp-fit-text layout="fixed-height" min-font-size="6" max-font-size="72" height="80">COME, JOYFUL AND TRIUMPHANT FOR OUR VICTOR OVER SIN, HURT, AND PAIN HAS ARRIVED!COME, JOYFUL AND TRIUMPHANT FOR OUR VICTOR OVER SIN, HURT, AND PAIN HAS ARRIVED!

Hope Has a Name Part 1

The Promise of Hope

Even in those moments of testing and trials there is still a hope that carries me through. When everything around me is against me, when I hear those words from the enemy, “Just give up” Theres always a push, there’s always a reminder of a “Cloud of witnesses” that are cheering us on to never give up, to run with endurance the race that is set before me. But without Hope — it wouldn’t be possible.

Romans 15:4 “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”

EVER SINCE THE FALL OF MAN, GOD PROMISED THAT A SAVIOR WOULD COME TO BE THE GAP BETWEEN MAN AND GOD, AND “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” – 2 Cor. 5:21

Hope Was Prophesied

680 YEARS BEFORE CHRIST WAS BORN, ISAIAH HAD PROPHESIED OF THE COMING KING.

ISAIAH 7:14

“THEREFORE THE LORD HIMSELF WILL GIVE YOU A SIGN: THE VIRGIN WILL CONCEIVE AND GIVE BIRTH TO A SON, AND WILL CALL HIM IMMANUEL.

Hope Was Coming!

ISAIAH 9:2, 6-7

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore.

IMMANUEL = GOD WITH US. WAS THE PROMISE OF HOPE TO COME AND THE PEACE FOREVERMORE.

THIS IS WHERE OUR HOPE IS FOUND, IS IN THE NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES, JESUS.

What ever promise that God has given you, remember the Hope that lies within Him, for without Him we have nothing and in Him we have our being.

Greatest Treasure of All

There are many treasures in this world that we can find that has value, that is of worth. But only One treasure chose to find us, He chose to become flesh and dwell among us. There is no other treasure that we must embrace not just in this holiday season but everyday.

For thousands of years, God’s chosen people had waited for the fulfillment of his promises, and for four hundred years, God had, so it seemed, gone silent.

…Until one night in a little town called Bethlehem, Immanuel, God with us was born.

HIS SILENCE IS NOT HIS ABSENCE, HE IS IMMANUEL, GOD WITH US.

Just imagine…

This child, the creator of the universe, the almighty God who spoke creation into existence. Came and humbled himself to become a baby. He was not laid in satin sheets, but in rags.  He was not laid in a bed of gold befitting a king but in a feeding trough for animals. There he was the greatest gift of all — In simple wrapping.

Luke 2:8-19 In the same region there were shepherds in the field. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and they were filled with fear. Angel said ‘fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. And fthis will be a sign for you: you will find a baby gwrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel ha multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

14  i“Glory to God jin the highest,

jand on earth kpeace lamong those with whom he is pleased!”

When the angels went away the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened.  And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.

I like verse 19 when “Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.”

Jesus said in Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.”

Are we truly treasuring Christ?

When we treasure the words of what he speaks in our time of difficulty those words will come to mind that will give us the courage the faith to help us get through the battles.

I believe when Mary was kneeling at the cross at the time of His Crucifixion, we could see Mary with tears flowing her down face. She knew the purpose of her Son, but still she felt the pain of a dying loved one. I believe her mind would go back to the night Jesus was born and remembering the words of the what the shepherds spoke to her. “Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

When life has taken a turn for the worse always treasure the Word. Always go back to the Word.
