Who Shall Ascend?

“Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

Psalm 24:3-5ESV

— We don’t approach God with good works so that no man can boast.

We approach Him with clean hands (innocent: – blameless, clean, clear, innocent, free, guiltless)

We approach Him with a Pure heart

Matt 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

In the Old Testament before the high priests were able to walk in the Holy place God required consecration. And He still requires it! A setting apart, lets face it, we are not of this World! We are to be salt and light to this generation.

This is living the Christian way; keeping a pure heart.

But thank God that through Jesus we are clothed in His Righteousness!

2 cor 5:21

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

If you can’t fly then run

martin

You are almost their, almost to the top of that mountain and then you realize when you get to the top that it’s a plateau. Whenever we think we have reached the top you look up and still, there is room to grow, another mountain to climb and other devils to fight.

All those struggles along the way, all of those temptations that have tried to keep you away from reaching that mountaintop. The doubts that you believe and the lies that try to enslave us along the way are doing nothing but clouding your vision from seeing how to climb up that mountain. And the fears that ever so easily control our feelings and thoughts that cripple our strength and faith as we move forward in this race.

But as we get closer, the struggles appear to be more and the temptations are stronger, but God knows how much you can handle, He knows you better than yourself. When we refuse to let go of the rock that is helping us climb this mountain that we are holding onto. We focus upward not looking back but the things that are hoped for that are not yet seen. We believe because we know in whom we have believed. I believe for whatever situation that you are in the Lord is giving you the confidence to do what He has called you to do and the peace to walk in victory over every obstacle that you face.

Can we fly? No, that would be to easy, can we run? Yes, but pace yourself. Can we walk? Yes, but don’t walk to slow. What about if we crawl? We just have to keep moving forward.

Rest

In Luke 8 beginning with verse 22, we hear of a story that is preached many times over and over, but are we missing the meaning of these verses? I know for myself and others that we can go back to the Bible and read the very same chapter and we will go over it next week or a little longer and there will be something that God magnifies to you different from before. What I had got out of this chapter and verse is that the disciples were awake when Jesus was sleeping. So?  When Jesus is resting we should rest, when He is healing we should be laying hands on the sick, when He is telling the good news we should be out telling the good news to those who sit out in darkness. I am impressed by the fact that He could sleep. His mind and heart were peaceful enough, trusting in the love and care of His Father in heaven, that He could sleep in the storm. Yes there was a storm but He new the care of His Father in Heaven until the disciples awoke Him.

That question was asked one day last week when I was laying in bed and had all these worries that I was thinking about like “What if” or “Is this possible”, those thoughts were quickly extinguished by the spirit saying over and over “rest”…”rest”

We all have payed more attention to the waves instead of Jesus at times, but how can you not? You have this huge mountain that is not moving, it’s there you think for good. Or is it?

“And they awoke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!”

The disciples were filling “un-easy” and they immediately went to Jesus, ask yourself this how many times have you went straight to Jesus in your trials?

“And He awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. He said to them, “Where is your faith?”

Are we resting in Him? Giving Him our everything? Where is your faith?

Doubting Faith

Many in waiting upon the Lord find immediate delight, but this is not the case with all. A deeper sense of sin may be given to you instead of a sense of pardon, and in such a case you will have need of patience to bear the heavy blow. Ah! poor heart, though Christ beat and bruise thee, or even slay thee, trust him; though he should give thee an angry word, believe in the love of his heart. Do not, I beseech thee, give up seeking or trusting my Master because thou hast not yet obtained the conscious joy which thou longest for. Cast thyself on him, and perseveringly depend even where thou canst not rejoicingly hope. – Charles Spurgeon

Q: Are we walking by faith or by what we see in front of us?

Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. – Mark 11:23

A: The second we lack in faith, is the second the doubt enters and turns our focus, which determines our outcome of the situation.
