PROVERBS 3:5

cross

It is our nature to put our trust in ourselves, in someone or something. The hardest thing to do I believe as being a Christian is to totally trust God in what seems to be an unwavering circumstance. Whether we think we know it all, we don’t. Our perception of things is not the same way how He looks at it. We must trust.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.

Just before the children of Israel began to cross the Jordan river, with the Promised Land being on the other side. Joshua told the people “Sanctify yourselves, tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”

Why did God have the people sanctified before they crossed?

I believe sometimes God needs to remind us of what He has done in the past, to remind us of His Power, His Glory and His Sovereignty in order for us to have our faith encouraged. Whenever we sanctify ourselves we are saying no to the Worlds standards and saying yes to God, trusting in who He says He is, knowing that He can and will deliver us once more.

He is asking us, His children to be completely dependent upon Him. He’s not asking for a perfect trust, we are an imperfect people. But He is asking to have a heart and life that does not consciously reject or deny with unbelief.

You may be at the Jordan river, overlooking what may seem impossible. But just like the priests when they began to take that step of faith, it says the waters stopped and the children walked on dry ground.

Your Ways – His Ways

I’m 29; hard-headed and very impatient. I like doing things my way and expect it to happen when I want it to happen. This Isn’t how God works and how He does things. While being a Christian for 15 years I still struggle with that thought. He says in His word ” For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

In everything we do, we have to believe by faith. Faith is what activates the impossible, it is the delivery system of God. And without it, no man can please God.

Where are you at with your walk with Christ? Are you like me who is impatient and wants things done instantly? Your not alone. We must do 1 thing and it’s this. Put Him first in all things and trust Him with your life. Don’t waver according to popular opinion or what your eyes see, look into the realm of His spirit. How? By faith.

He is the way, trust in Him and He will show you the way!

Partial Obedience = Diobedience

He wants all of us.

For a long time I thought giving God most of me was good enough. I thought since I have a great prayer life, I’m involved in a ministry every week at my church, I have a blog site, I thought I was doing “okay”. It felt spiritually like I kept hitting a wall but there was always that “thing” that kept me from maturing in my faith. I couldn’t figure out what to give up. Every time that I would go in prayer, I would ask the Lord, show me what I need to give up.

I’ve heard the song “Have it All”, I’ve read the scriptures about giving God your all. The rich young ruler, The surrendering aspect of it was the part I was trying to figure out myself. From your attitude to your finances, He wants to be involved in every detail. It’s not just the parts we allow Him, He wants control of it all.

James 4:7 “Submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

This particular verse I still speak out whenever the enemy tempts me. But it’s not only used for being tempted. “Submit to God” should tell you that whether the enemy is shooting fiery darts or not, we should always “submit to God”

The pride of life springs up whenever you think about handing anything over to someone else. When I was young, just starting out with having my first job. My dad would help me with my finances. Why? I needed help and he was awesome at taking care of his own. I’ve never seen anyone like him that can make a dollar stretch and so disciplined with his own finances. It was hard to hand him over the money that I worked hard for. I had to form a trust, and since then I have learned the value of trust and surrendering.

Obedience is better than sacrifice.

How much do you trust God? Would you go as far as sacrificing your son? Or daughter? Look at Genesis 22 when God tells Abraham to sacrifice his only son. As soon as Abraham raises the knife, an angel of the lord shouted “Do not lay a hand on the boy, now I know that you fear the Lord, because you have withheld from me your son, your only son.”

God tests us, He sees how much we are willing to give up. Have you gave up everything? Have you decreased so He can increase? If not, I pray that you will make that choice today. God doesn’t want partial obedience. Its all or nothing. Don’t give God parts of you, for He has not given us parts of Him.

Unfailing Favor

” Seeing that we have such a God to trust to, let us rest upon Him with all our weight; let us resolutely drive out all unbelief, and endeavor to get rid of doubts and fears, which so much mar our comfort; since there is no excuse for fear where God is the foundation of our trust. A loving parent would be sorely grieved if his child could not trust him; and how ungenerous, how unkind is our conduct when we put so little confidence in our heavenly father, who has never failed us, and who never will! We have been in many trials, but we have never yet been cast where we could not find in our God all that we needed.” – Charles Spurgeon

” Lean not on your own understanding…” – Proverbs 3:5,6

~ We will never figure God out to the tee, He is a mystery, an all wonderous being, “But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame (confound) the wise; God chose what is
weak in the world to shame the strong.” – 1 Cor. 1:27 (ESV)

As I continue In my ministry, I have ton’s of questions like, “Why did you take me out of Aquinas”, “Why is my ministry on the web?”, & How on earth could I afford to have bought a house, and have gotten my dream car (Chrysler 300C) after buying a brand new car last year and not being upside down? Because of His unfailing favor, that is what you call that. Let’s face it, we all have questions, but He will reassure you that He will never leave you. Just REST IN HIM. Favor follows obedience, obedience follows blessings, that will bless your socks off!

Favor follows us, so undeserving we are, God chooses to bless those that are His. He chose us, so why do we decide not to choose Him as our foundation of trust when our lives become ship wrecked? The only One who can fix us?
