In Him: We are Anointed

Isaiah 61:1

	[1] The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
		because the LORD has anointed me
	to bring good news to the poor;
		he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
	to proclaim liberty to the captives,
		and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; (ESV)

This verse was a foreshadowing of why Jesus came. He came to the poor and not to the rich. He came to proclaim truth and free those who are bonded.

At times when I don’t think I’m capable of doing something I’m reminded of this verse. At times when I need more boldness I read this verse.

We need to believe that we are anointed — in your job, as a parent, in your ministry and anything you put your hand to. God has anointed you! Holy Spirit is upon you! Rise up and proclaim truth to those who are hurting, and who are in bondage.

Notice the “tense” of the anointing in verse 1- it’s not ‘is anointing’ you, it’s not ‘might’ anoint you. it’s past tense – he has anointed you, meaning I am currently anointed. there is a reason for your anointing. we are anointed for a purpose, not for selfish ambition but to help those who are in prison, who are sick, who need a touch from God!
