Feeling Empty?

IMG_0075

Are you longing for something more in life but just can’t put a finger on it? It’s a empty feeling like a missing piece that you don’t have. Maybe you’ve tried other things like alcohol, sex, drugs or anything that made you feel a “high” that lasted for a short time. But it’s getting worse, you keep wanting more but you feel the same, empty.

I know of a remedy. I know someone who can take residence. Filling in that emptiness in your life. You’ve been trying things trying to imitate the feeling of peace in your life. But truthfully, the only “thing” is not a “thing”. It’s a person who loves you so much he displayed it on a cross so you could have freedom from those “things” and experience a peace that I cannot explain. Am I talking about religion? Not at all. His name is Jesus and He longs to be in a relationship with you! Only He can fill that void. If this emptiness is leading you to questions look no further. He is the answer!

The Finish Line

the finish line

Can you finish a race by only running half way? I’m afraid not.

What about running without endurance? Nope.

Neither can you live a Christian life and not give all to Jesus.

It was a night that I had prayed for bondage’s to be broken in the church, you know those “pet sins” that we tend to keep a hold of, I know it’s not a prayer that most people pray but that night God had put that on my heart. I prayed and sought the face of God that evening. Later when I was in bed about to fall asleep. The Lord spoke and said,“Many of my people are only going half way in their walk with me. They’ve forgotten what I have done for them and turning to other gods. But those who choose to seek Me shall find their strength in Me.”

In a race we have two options. Run with perseverance or just jog. There is no in-between and living for Jesus there is no in- between.

“So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” – Rev. 3:16

It’s impossible to finish a race half way, we’ve got to run and not get weary.

“You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?” – Gal 5:7

The number 1 tactic that the enemy uses is distractions. There everywhere! You always have something else to do when your doing a work for the Lord. Whether its Bible study or picking your kids up from a game. There is always going to be something that catches our attention.

I used to get so distracted by doing unnecessary jobs that I thought were important. Now I look back and think to myself “why?” The enemy is a master at creating distractions around your environment.

Are you not running the race well? Something hindering your walk? Maybe it’s the hurdles that keep you from running with endurance. Don’t lose hope! When your struggling, submit to God by asking for His help.

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” – 2 Cor. 12:9

Authenticity

Mirror or Masquerade?

woman-hiding-behind-mask

Romans 12:2

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God”

Let’s take a look at the definitions of the word conformed and transformed.

Conformed– to put on a mask and attend a party or masquerade. It is to act in such a way as to misrepresent one’s true inner nature.

Transformed– One’s outward actions represent an inner change in the essential nature of a person.

The question must be asked of every Christian. “Does my life mirror the Christ within me, or is it a masquerade on display to the world around me?” The authentic leader does not “put on” false pretenses. He or she is transparent, seeking to mirror the very character of Christ in everything, and open to change if so prompted by the Holy Spirit. This daily process of experiencing Scripture transforms the mind and heart through a deeper understanding of what it means to be in Christ.

Are You Authentic?

I do not like fakes! What am I talking about? Fake products that advertise “Authentic”. I have shopped eBay one time for what I thought was a “authentic” Otterbox but soon found out it wasn’t. The material was not the same as what the picture was, the seal that keeps it waterproof wasn’t the same material as the real thing. The so called “authentic” Otterbox wasn’t the real deal. The outside looked good! Good enough to say it was authentic but the inside portrayed a different story.

Many Christians today have an appearance of Godliness, but on the inside there hasn’t been a transformation that has took place. They walk around with a mask.

Each of us has to choose between conforming to the culture and being transformed by the Holy Spirit. One mirrors the world and one mirrors the spirit of Christ. One pretends to be a lover of Christ and presents an authentic life, one of the most important and attractive characteristics of a Christian.

People are not wanting what the world has. They have questions, they have pain and hurt just as much as Christians do but they need to know who God is and who can be with them in their time of pain and trials. We cry out to Abba father, who are they crying out to? Are you wearing a mask? Or living a fruitful life before others and before God. It’s a choice we make and the choice has to be answered everyday.

Why Keep Praying?

why keep praying

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. – Matthew 7:7-8

We live in times of instant gratification. We are so accustomed these days to a “vending machine” mentality, that we no longer have the patience to wait or not to find what we need immediately. Unfortunately, I have noticed that sometimes we carry the same mentality into our prayer life.

Let’s think about vending machines for a moment. We have a pocket full of change and we stand in front of a vending machine trying to decide what we want, we look at all the options. Once we make up our minds, we put in the change and voila! We get what we want.

The same thing may be happening in our prayer life. Unconsciously we think of God as the ultimate vending machine. Our thought process goes like this: Jesus promised that whatsoever we ask in His name He would do. Then we pray for what we need or want in His name, and we may continue to pray thus for few days expecting that God will do what we want. but whenever an answer comes not exactly in the way we expect it, we become mad at God. Some people believe that God does not love them because He did not give them what they had asked! Seriously?

We must realize that even when we ask good things, sometimes the answer is “No”.

“God is not a vending machine where we can go and purchase with prayer our every desire and whim”

If every prayer you ever prayed were instantly answered, two things would be true. Prayer would become a weapon of destruction in your life and you’d never think about God because He would become a vending machine.

Why be persistent? When you pray a prayer request over and over, it’s not to remind God. He doesn’t need to be reminded! It’s to remind yourself who the source of your answer and all your needs is.

Prayer is a faith builder. In the waiting God begins to grow you even more. So don’t let go of your prayers, keep on trusting

So Why Keep Praying?

Without prayer you will be powerless.

Without prayer you won’t build faith.

Without prayer you have no insight of what God is doing in your life.

Prayer prepares us for what is yet to come, what we aren’t ready for perhaps. Prayer humbles us, takes us off the throne, and puts God in His rightful place.

No Pets Allowed

How many times have you read the paper seeing the ads for houses to rent that says “NO PETS ALLOWED”
or the hotels that have big signs saying “NO PETS ALLOWED” I wonder why? Mostly because pets leave behind odors and possibly tear the place up. But some people are so attached to their pet that they won’t have it any other way.

Also, God doesn’t allow “pets” in His temple. Why ? “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,” -1 Corinthians 6:19

Allow me to go a little deeper in this Word. Before we came to Christ these were apart of our lifestyle things that we done habitual. But since Jesus stepped in and made you His own, He changes our hearts desire and the “pet” must go. ALL sin is grievous to God, at the moment it might not be a big deal, or He doesn’t mind.

Allow me to tell you from my own personal experience. I had a “pet” along my side when I chose to follow Christ. It was little then, it didn’t bother me, didn’t think much of it, my excuse was i’m a guy, every guy does it. True, if your not a believer. This was going on for years. It started getting out of hand, my “pet” was growing into this big “pet” it used to be so little but after the years of feeding it, it started consuming my life. Until one point God had enough.

I had broke the heart of God so many times over my “pet” sin that I thought, why would God want me back? After all I’ve done, how is it possible? I was scared, very scared. That gave me a new outlook on life. It shows the love that God has for us and His gracious mercy and grace that is un-measurable.

If you have a “pet” in your life. God will help you take it out of His temple. Trust in Him like you never have, after all, all you need is Him.
