Call Unto Me

Jeremiah 33:3

“Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.”

The God of the Universe, who spoke the stars into existence, who spoke things into being. Who made man, and made a way for us all to know Him, yearns to hear from His children and for Him to display His power. He is always inviting us into His presence.

Damp, cold and most likely dark; This is where Jeremiah was at, in a jail cell at the time that God spoke to him these words. After Jeremiah prophesied to king Zedekiah that the Babylonians would destroy his army, king Zedekiah took it personal.

We may not be in a prison cell, we may at times feel like we are in solitude. But sometimes that’s what God has to do. In order for us to hear Him, He sometimes places us in situations where we have no choice, but to wait to call upon Him and seek His face.

We don’t know it all and we never will. He has all the answers. That’s why we have to call upon Him

Psalms 102:17 “He will regard the prayer of the destitute and not despise their prayer.

As I get older, I realize I’m getting grumpier. Well, not like an old man you encounter in a nursing home. But I’ve noticed I’m not as kind as I used to be. Sounds like I’m a jerk but I’m really not. I’ve been prideful, no way to put it. I don’t trust people like I used to, Some days I don’t want to talk to others. I’d rather be in my ‘bubble’. Letting pride sweep in is very easy. And I’ve asked God to show me what doors am I opening for this to happen? It’s more than just a door that I’m opening. It’s been my attitude towards others.

I always have worship music on when I pray and sometimes I turn it off so that I may hear what He is speaking to me. The Lord spoke to me, “humbleness leads to kindness” in my prayer time last night. It’s like He knew what I was getting ready to ask Him, “Lord, can you make me kind towards others?”

In this day and age, it’s hard to be humble and kind. Especially waiting in line at a gas station when your in a hurry and the person in front is spending their salary on lottery tickets. Is this the attitude that He wants us to have? Of course not.

What does He require of us?

After the Lord whispered those words to me that “humbleness leads to kindness”,  I was led to Micah 6:8 “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

What if we all lived out that verse?

Every Good Gift

Everything we have is a gift from God, whether it be our job, the car we drive, etc. the ultimate gift is Him!

James 1:17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”

It’s the holiday season which is the time for all the Christmas parties. In hoping to receive a good gift whenever it’s time to exchange gifts. You always have that thought of the dreadful fruitcake. Because someone didn’t have time to shop or they rummaged in their pantry to find a last minute gift. But whatever gift you might have got stuck with, might not have been what you wanted.

As I’m growing older, the Lord is teaching me to be content with what I already have. To be grateful for whatever season that I am in, and to trust Him regardless of what is around me.

We can get so wrapped up with what the other person has and how we envy, become jealous of that “perfect gift” that we think we should have.

  1. There are times when we don’t get the gift that we “want”

Because we don’t need it!

He will give us the gift that we need for the season that you will be in. God will give you that spouse, vehicle, home or whatever desire of your heart when it is His timing.

How? Why?

God’s ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts.

In a way some of us may think that God is being mean by withholding that perfect gift. But life itself is a perfect gift. And Jesus is that perfect gift!

Psalm 84:11
For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

He knows what you need next wed, tonight, He knows when and how to deliver that gift! whether it be:

  • deliverance
  • Healing
  • Strength

He does not change, he will not waiver according to your SITUATION.

Promise of His Presence

The promise of His presence is one of many promises of God, but why is it so important?
In the beginning God walked with man, communicated with His first creation who was Adam and Eve. But the moment they bought into the lie, and sinned,it changed. There was a wall now between God and man that separated them from having that one on one communion with our creator.

2000 years ago, Jesus was born on this Earth, sent from God for Him to restore that relationship that Adam and Eve lost in the Garden. Is God among us? Yes He is, but not in form only through the Holy Spirit that is with every Believer who is born again.

Just like with someone that we love here on Earth, we can text, call but there is nothing that can compare to that person being in your presence. With God, He longed for that and now through Jesus we are heirs with Christ, but why is His presence so important? There is joy, peace, strength and so much more that God can bestow in us from His presence.

There is none quite like the presence of God, it’s indescribable. It fulfills His promise of Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

His presence is a reminder that He is Emmanuel, “God with us”
