“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”
– Phil 3:14
We all have goals and ambitions in our lives, whats a life without having those desires? Whether its a career goal,
a financial situation, or eating healthier and exercising, whatever it is we all have a goal. If you were to google “life goals” you would find an unprecendented number of sites telling you the “Seven types of goals for a successful life.” “Or how to better yourself” etc.
There is 1 goal that i’m after, that I cannot stop chasing it. Though I have been stopped because of my own foolishness I keep pressing on. It’s not the goal to be famous or to be successful in my career. It’s the goal that Paul is talking about in Philippians 3 which is pursuing after God! Once you have a set course to follow after Him, He will take care of the rest!
Are We Going The Distance?
There are a lot of Christians that are going the distance and some that are not. Some have a fire shut up in their bones like the prophet Jeremiah, then there are some that have been discouraged, lost the fire for the race they were running.
“You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?”
– Gal 5:7
What happens, how do we lose the fire? The determination that we once had when nothing could stop us from passionately pursuing after Him?
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.”
– 1 Cor. 9:24
What is it that the Holy Spirit is wanting you to lay down? Let our prayer be “ Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” – Psalm 51:10
The extra baggage, the stuff we don’t need to carry…any longer
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”
– Hebrews 12:1
Let’s look at the book of Mark, are we preparing a way for the Lord? The real preparation must take place in our hearts. Building a road is very much like the preparation God must do in our hearts, without YOU allowing HIM to make you a vessel for His purpose He will not be able to use you. Like Mark was Gods bulldozer to build that highway, allow the Holy Spirit bulldoze the junk so God can use you to be the light in this darkened land.
Amen!!
