2 Chronicles 20:1-4
20 After this the Moabites and Ammonites, and with them some of the Meunites, came against Jehoshaphat for battle. 2 Some men came and told Jehoshaphat, “A great multitude is coming against you from Edom, from beyond the sea; and, behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar” (that is, Engedi). 3 Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his face to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 4 And Judah assembled to seek help from the Lord; from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.
2 Chronicles 20:15
15 “And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
Through every season of life, valleys, and trials we go through, it is important to know that every battle we face is not our own but of God’s.
The enemy will always tell you that God has left you.
The enemy will always say it’s your fault,
The enemy will always say you got yourself into this, and you’re the one who is going to have to get yourself out.
Fear is the enemy’s most used tactic, FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL.
In the story we just read, the enemy wanted Jehosophat to shrink back; he wanted him to fight with the weapons of carnality,
2 Corinthians 10:4 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;”
— It’s tempting to take matters into our own hands,
Jehoshaphat could have fled in fear, but he held by faith. Remembering the promise of God when he said, “The battle is not yours but God’s.” ( 2 Cor 17 )“ You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow, go out against them, and the Lord will be with you.”
Jehospohat didn’t put the infantry on the front line of the battle; He put the worshippers on the front line!
V 21 “He appointed those who were to sing to the Lord and praise Him in holy attire, as they went before the army and said, Give thanks to the Lord for his steadfast love endures forever.”
V 22 “As they sang, the Lord set ambushes against the armies, and they destroyed each other.”
Every day is a battle, but we have a captain who has gone before us, who has made a way, we have who Colossians 2:15 says, “ He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.”
We have to remember that at Calvary, every battle, every temptation has been dealt with once and for all!
“Count the joy in every battle, because we know that’s where He will be.“
