When I look at Hannah I see a reverent spirit. A Woman who prayed so hard she appeared to be drunk to those surrounding her. Can we imagine for a moment what that must have felt like for Hannah? Struggling with brokenness inside but yet having no hold on giving it to God. She laid down everything before Him because she knew that was the only way she could keep from going mad.
It’s so easy for us to hold onto anger, regret, fear, anxieties. Because those are such familiar feelings. Whereas at times the touch from Holy Spirit isn’t. If we could lay down our transgressions like Hannah we could feel His Spirit more often. As I have grown older and have had a few experiences I have learned that sometimes my prayers are silent. I can get on my knees, lay down on my bed, stand in the kitchen, and attempt to get my words out but I can’t seem to know where to start. And it’s at that moment that I know I need to be quiet and listen. I need to welcome His Spirit in. It allows us to open that door we so often have nailed shut and just let His Spirit overcome us.
No matter our prayers, no matter our requests, or even our demands God hears us. Our prayer may not always be answered and we can question why. But we need to understand that no matter what is going on in our lives, no matter what sadness, brokenness, or fears we are carrying, God is preparing a way. Allow Him to prepare for this season, the next season in your life. Trust in Him because His plan is perfect, He has fought your battles and won. I pray His peace that surpasses all understanding (Phil 4:7) will overwhelm you even in your darkest times. And that you open the door and let His light in just like Hannah did.
